James Tyree


James has a distinguished career in health care operations and M&A spanning more than thirty years. He is Chairman and Co-Founder of Tyree & D’Angelo Partners and serves as a member of all portfolio company boards. He previously held numerous executive positions at Abbott Laboratories Inc. including Executive Vice President Global Pharmaceuticals, Senior Vice President Global Nutrition, and Corporate Vice President Pharmaceutical and Nutritional Products Group Business Development. Prior to joining Abbott, he held leadership positions at Sugen Inc., Bristol-Myers Squibb Inc., and Pfizer Inc.

James currently serves as an independent board member for several public and private healthcare companies, including Assertio (NASDAQ: ASRT), Chemocentryx (NASDAQ: CCXI), Genelux Inc. and SonarMed Inc.

James has been active in a number of educational and local Illinois endeavors. He served as a member of the Advisory Board of the University of Chicago Graduate School of Business. He was a Member of Richard M. Daley’s Chicago Mayor’s Council of Technology Advisors. He also chaired, at the request of the Illinois Governor, a council of advisors to develop a new strategic plan for the Illinois Medical District. He is a past Chairman of the Illinois Biotechnology Industry Organization (iBIO). James earned his MBA from the Kelley School of Business at Indiana University, as well as bachelor’s degrees in psychology and forensic studies from Indiana University.
